Contact Lens Evaluations

We often hear from patients about how they have had negative experiences when trying contact lenses from other offices. Often, discount or commercial optical centers buy contact lenses from a limited number of vendors and, as a result, most of their patients are fit with practically the same type of contact lens. There are hundreds of different types of contact lenses and one type of lens is not best for everyone. At our office, after a thorough evaluation of your visual needs and eye health, you and the doctor will design a contact lens that will work best for you. A contact lens evaluation is never completed in just one office visit. To get the most accurate, comfortable, and healthy contact lens fit for your eye the doctor needs to evaluate the lens after you have worn it for a period of time. Your input is very important in the contact lens evaluation / fitting period. Part of the contact lens evaluation is science and part of it is the patient's adaptation to the lens. These are some reasons why people want contact lenses:

  • Wider peripheral vision
  • Unobstructed vision
  • Great for sports
  • No glare from eyeglasses
  • No heavy eyeglasses hurting your nose or ears
  • Can wear regular sunglasses
  • Change your eye color
  • Enhance your own eye color
  • Clearer vision than in eyeglasses (in some cases)
  • Special lenses can even help with extreme light sensitivity, color deficiencies and amblyopia (lazy eye) treatment.
